AVIO AERO at Turin Aerospace & Defense Meetings
Rivalta di Torino (Italy), 22 October 2013 – Avio Aero, leaders in the design, manufacture and maintenance of aeronautical components and systems, participates in Aerospace & Defense Meetings, the international event dedicated to the aeronautical, space and defense industry scheduled for 23 and 24 October, at the Turin Lingotto.
Avio Aero will be there with a stand presenting the mock-up of the innovative power transmission designed for the Geared Turbofan, together with the aeronautical blades built using additive manufacturing technology, the innovative procedure enabling the development of solid objects of any shape, starting from a digital model, through a metal powder aggregation process (TiAI).
In the "Green Aviation Village", the company will be using presentation boards to explain the work and results obtained under the scope of the reduction of consumption, polluting emissions and noise, together with its participation in the Clean Sky consortium, one of the high-level integrated technological platforms launched by the European Commission in the 7th framework programme (Joint Technology Initiative). The programme consists of 6 macro areas (large aircraft, regional, helicopters, engines, systems and eco-compatible designs) and will result in the creation of large-scale technological demonstrators (including flying ones).
As a participant in Horizon 2020, the programme that groups together all the financing of the European Union to encourage research and innovation, Avio Aero will also be presenting its own research programme during the event, along with the innovative projects that will help increase European scientific and technological excellence worldwide, according to the established objectives.
The company has always dedicated considerable resources to research, development and innovation of its products and processes, in some cases in collaboration with national institutions such as Italy’s Ministry for Education, Universities and Research, organizations aimed at developing and supporting regional research and Technology Districts, particularly in Piedmont, Campania and Puglia.
