Rivalta di Torino (Italy) - 20 June, 2019 - Avio Aero and MT-Propeller have signed an agreement to collaborate in the military turboprop market, offering an integrated engine-propeller system. The Bavarian company is now Avio Aero’s preferred propeller supplier formilitary applications outside the US, targeting UAVs, Trainers and light transport market segments.
Through this collaboration,Avio Aero is best positioned to offer military customers in Europe as well as around the world an integrated propulsion module based on the Catalyst turboprop engine and on the vast portfolio of commercial off-the-shelf propeller systems by MT-Propeller that maximize the value of the integration.
The Catalyst is the first engine in its class to have a FADEC, Full Authority Digital Engine Control system that controls not only the engine but also the propeller: all-in-one and through one single level, bringing a jet-like experience to turboprop aircrafts. Through the collaboration with MT-Propeller, Avio Aero intends to further exploit the benefit of the FADEC to offer an optimized propulsion system.

This collaboration further enhances the European nature of the Catalyst engine project,both in terms of technology and industrial return. The Catalyst engine is based on all-European technology and is produced between Czech Republic, Italy, Poland, France, Germany, Austria and Spain. Though this collaboration we are further increasing the German technological and industrial content making the integrated propulsion system even more pan-European.
This is a result of crucial importance as it allows not only a technological and industrial return and European independence but also makes the entire propulsion system subject only to EU export control regimes.
