GE Aerospace

Safety is at the core of everything we do at Avio Aero.

Every day, nearly 1 million people fly relying on the propulsion systems, modules, and components we design, build, and maintain. Our Safety Management System (SMS) helps identify product safety hazards, manage risk, and strengthen a positive Safety Culture across our business.

Our SMS is not just a policy - it is a shared responsibility that depends on every voice being heard. Concerns must be reported, and speaking up is essential to building trust and protecting those who depend on us.

Supported by robust processes and strong collaboration with suppliers, joint ventures, regulators, and customers, we continuously strengthen our culture and performance - advancing our commitment to Bring Them Home Safely.

Our Safety Journey

our safety journey

Avio Aero has embraced a Safety Management System on a voluntary basis since 2014, demonstrating a long-standing commitment to the highest standards of aviation safety. In line with Delegated Regulation (EU) 2021/1963 for maintenance organizations and Delegated Regulation (EU) 2022/201 for design and production organizations, the company began implementing a Corporate Safety Management System in 2022, establishing processes and governance aligned with the international industry standard SM-0001.

In March 2025, Avio Aero successfully completed the approval process for its Safety Management System under EASA Regulation (EU) 2022/201. Information Security will be integrated into the system in March 2026, in accordance with EASA PART-IS Regulations (EU) 2022/1645 and 2023/203.
The implementation of the Safety Management System marks another important step in reinforcing Avio Aero’s commitment to fostering a positive safety culture at every level of the organization and to driving the continuous improvement of aviation safety.

An SMS is founded on a safety policy and objectives that set out senior management’s commitment to safety, its goals and the supporting organizational structure.
